3 Weeks to Lose Weight

Hello! So have about 3 weeks till a trip and want to lose weight. BW as a whole would be nice, especially around my waist area. I have stubborn love handles lol which is my main focus. I'm around 175-180 at around 59. I've been running everyday and trying to cut back on carbs.

My front abs aren't bad (nothing is showing but the fat is just a little bit), it seems like weight likes to go to my sides. If anyone knows about ab workouts that would help with this that would be great. I'm also working out to improve my vertical and speed. I would greatly appreciate any tips that y'all may have. Thank you and have a great day!

any advice for healthful eating while living out of car?

Hey ya'll. current provisions are a loaf of bread (I work at a bakery), a couple cups unsweetened applesauce, some tuna, pb, and small bags of dried fruit. oh and McDonalds jelly packets lol. I've gotten iron deficiency again. I'm also trying to get back on a weight loss diet (that's the easy part, the calorie control). where I am struggling is now in getting adequate nutrition with my budget. I tried eating canned peas and the like but the texture makes me extremely sick. I can do small amounts of baked beans!

this is super important to me. I'm struggling in life and feeling as if I could control my health in a meaningful way would mean so much to me.

Do personal trainers/coaches etc only want to work with you if you go to the gym?

Hello everyone, I hope this kind of advice fits in here.

I've fallen off the wagon many many times, and I feel the only way to save me is true accountability for what I'm eating and when/if I'm moving my body.

I have played with the idea of working with a trainer/coach, more than likely one who offers online catch ups etc. This is because the ones I have often seen, are all based outside of my own country (some from my own home country, some also from my home country and have moved away - just like I did.)

However, I'm not the best for going to a gym and working out there. I just know from previous experience, having HAD gym memberships before, I will not go there, I won't work out, I just won't have the motivation to go and won't enjoy it when I am there.

I am rather happier to go out on walks in the evenings after work.

All of this to say. If I say to a trainer "yes but I don't really enjoy the gym, nor will i be going", is that going to put them off working with me?

Stats just in case I'm not at the word count: CW 91.7, GW 80, 5'4 // 163cm, 32 F

Thanks if you've responded/read!

Down 2kg in 2 weeks on solo weight loss retreat - what's the best "sticky" calorie tracker app you have used?

I've struggled with my weight my entire life . Never been traditionally skinny and it's always, always been a drain on mental health and confidence no matter how much I tell myself otherwise. I've tried a few different trackers but honestly I need something that's less 'intrusive' in my daily routine. Meaning, I don't want to sit at a restaurant and key in/search for foods, I don't want to "think" about tracking calories, I'm too lazy.

Curious to hear what everyone here is using. What have you found the best one is that's "sticky" ? meaning you actually stick with it months later

I'm currently on a solo weight loss month / retreat to attempt to get in shape for an upcoming wedding - down about 2kg in 2 weeks but a long way to go before I can fit into my suit from a few years back. 2 weeks to go.

- Ran 5k about 7 days, knees starting to hurt this week

- Fasted most days for 16hs the first week, not much this week as the more I go to the gym the hungrier I get.

- No chocolate in 3 weeks, actually that's a lie I gave in last week on some kinder but checked the calories and threw the remaining bars in the bin, literally 2/3 kinder bars almost doubled my daily intake, struggle is real but when it's not in your house for a quick grab in the cupboard it actually helps so much

I love taking pictures of everything I eat, I didn't see any apps out there that let me upload photos of what I've previously eaten to track calories and track intermittent fasting at the same time. In order to distract myself from going to the gym/food I needed to keep myself busy, so thought why not code something that can do this? I built an app for myself this month to track everything I eat in a month and give me a calorie breakdown - basically means I can be out eating, take a photo on the app or just a normal photo and upload later and it'll add it at the right time. Super excited with the potential because it also let's me track when I'm feeling bloated so I can do time analysis to see what foods cause it (bad memory). Definitely feel like I'm lactose intolerant / glucose but refuse to give up bread/milk. Hopefully this can help me track my moods better.

If anyone here is like me and needs a lazy way to track calories / general food intake, send me a quick message and I'd be more than happy to get you on as a tester to see if this makes it easier for any of you - obviously for free/at cost because we're in this together!?

What's working for you right now? apps, fasting? how has your month been?

Stopped Counting Calories - Now I Keep Thinking About Food?

Hey!

Body:
After losing 177lbs (400→223), I quit calorie counting but now I'm stuck in my head about food:
- Constant "should I eat?" thoughts even when not hungry

  • Snacking because I "might get hungry later"

  • Stressing about portions despite still losing 2-3lbs/month

I work with a dietician and only weigh myself once a month. My dietician/therapist wants me to escape this calorie counting, diet mentality, and just focus on being “healthy.”

What's Working:
- Bigger breakfasts (oats + protein keeps me full) and getting a snack before I workout/run. - Plate method (simple balanced meals without numbers)
- Prepping weekend meals to avoid grazing

Question:
For those who stopped tracking:
1. How long until you stopped overthinking every meal?
2. Any tricks to break the "eat now just in case" habit?
3. How do you know you're eating enough without numbers?

My Weight loss Goal

Hi everyone! I'm currently in the process of losing weight. Its been a long and definitely not linear process by any means. My HW was 323 CW 278 GW is 160. In 2014, I went to Busch Gardens Williamsburg in October for their Howl-O-Scream event, and absolutely loved it. I still think about it and talk about my memories I had there because it was genuinely fun. I was around 240 back then and fit on every coaster just fine.

In June of last year I went to Kings Dominion. I was 300lbs and got deeply humbled. I only fit on 2 coasters. My goal is to get down to 240 to be able to go back to Busch Gardens in either this coming October or next October. Is 240 by October a realistic goal since I'm 278 right now? I'm also scared I for some reason won't fit on the coasters at that weight either since the last time I went was quite a while ago and my body has changed. Thanks for any advice

binging

first post ever but hey so i've lost around 20kgs and i was 40kg a week ago, ever since i've binged last friday to an upwards of probably 10k i've literally had so much fluid retention and gained so much weight to the point i cant tell if it's water weight or not. my thighs are so swollen with my feet and i literally cannot walk at all. i'm binging every single day to an upwards of 5k calories properly and i don't even enjoy the food anymore i'm just doing it like it's a marathon or hobby to indulge in and i don't know why this keeps happening to me... even my own family try to help me... i was so toned but now i'm starting to feel skin on my body ( my breasts have enlarged ) and feel my definition escaping and i'm beyond terrified... i'm just wondering how to get of this problem because it's affecting my every day with me not being able to concentrate on the simplest things like even studying or even paying attention in class. i don't even like the food i'm just eating for the sake of it... even when the food is hid i'm still eating it and i'm beyond disgusted.. my body doesn't even feel like it's full as well afterwards 😭😭😭😭

People who already had their weight loss plateau and managed to overcome it, how did you do it?

This year I've reached the highest weight I've had in my whole life: 96kg.

And since then, I've started losing weight through walking every day and eating much better.
Which is good! I'm already at 91kg.

And I have three milestones to reach:
83kg at mid-October, 81kg at mid-November and 79kg at New Year's Eve.

But here is the thing: I don't know exactly when I'm gonna reach my plateau.
And I don't know what to do when I reach it.

What should I do when I reach my plateau? Do I tweak the amount of exercise or the diet? Or I do some third thing?

Breakthrough periods

Hello,

So a "secret" to my weight loss is that I am doing portion control and also burning 600-700 calories a day to make up the difference between the 2000 calories a day down to my weight loss goal of 1400 calories a day. I do this so I am not hungry, hit all my macros and in general feel great with both my energy levels and body.

However, I am experiencing breakthrough periods that I have never experienced previously and it is definitely related to the exercise as I have never exercised this intensely before. It is not a significant amount (think streaks) and I am on no discomfort, just wondering if there are tips (other than wearing a pad) that I should know about.

How do I break my weight loss plateau?

I recently lost 30 pounds by only counting calories, no exercise. I then decided to up my activity to 10k steps and lost a few more pounds. I now am at a plateau. My bmi is 23.1 now so normal. I only have 10 more pounds to lose but this plateau has been stalling my progress. It’s been 40 days since I lost weight. I’ve tried weight lifting for 3 weeks with the steps, no progress. I tried upping my steps to 15k and removing the weight lifting (worried water weight caused no shift), no progress. I’ve been eating at 1370 calories the entire time, including the entire time it took to lose 30 pounds. Now it seems like it does nothing. I will say, I have random bites of food I don’t track and I read that while that’s usually not a huge issue, when you have less weight to lose, every single calorie counts and I’m wondering if that is my issue? I calculated my tdee and it says my maintenance calories is 1,900 and that to lose 1 pound a week I’d need to eat 1,406 calories so.. why am I not losing? I don’t know exactly how many calories are in these bites I don’t count but I would estimate between 30-130 calories of untracked stuff depending on day. The reason I did this is because I figured this was fine since I would still be close most days to my range to lose weight especially with upping my activity to 15k steps daily. I am confused with what I read online on what to do. Do I lower my calories and really make sure I track every single calorie or is it likely that my body is annoyed with the deficit and I need a diet break of 7 days eating at maintenance. Is my new maintenance 1370 calories and that’s why I can’t lose?

Any tips for someone who has been overweight their whole life?

Hey all. I'm 5'2, female, and roughly 200-205lbs (90kg). I crossed over into the obese category over the past 5 years, but I was on the high end of overweight since I was a young child. I grew up without any sort of regulation on what I was eating, as well as mostly processed foods in the house since we werent exactly well off. Most of my immediate family is also obese.

I've struggled with a binge-restrict cycle for a few years, and I finally want to do it right this time. I need to lose weight, because I've been gaining at least 10 pounds every year.

I eat about 2300 calories a day (I tracked days where I just ate whatever I wanted to get a good baseline of where Im at). Im currently trying to limit it down to 1700 (with a goal of slowly going a bit lower once I'm comfortable with 1700).

Any tips beyond just the obvious eating in a deficit and movement?

Should I be worried?

31M 5'11 SW: 240 CW: 208

I will start from the beginning, so back in January of this year I was sitting at 240 and found out at the Dr that I had an extremely fatty liver. Dr told me I needed to change my diet and lose weight for the liver so I did. I started working out 6 days a week and running 3 times a week on a C25K program. I was counting calories and staying on schedule losing weight steadily until about a month ago I got stuck at 217. Well, i decided to increase the amount of cardio I was doing every day until one day I almost passed out after a 3 mi run. I figured maybe I was overdoing it so I took the rest of the week off. The next week I tried getting back into the swing of things and felt like I was getting light headed again so I stopped early and took another week off. I should mention I stopped counting calories and was eating pretty much whatever I felt like but no fast food for the weeks I took off from exercising. Well, yesterday I once again tried getting back into things and I still feel like something is off while I am lifting weights. I also noticed that today I am down to 208 lbs from the 217 I was stuck at before I stopped going to the gym and stopped restricting my diet. I guess what I am getting at is should I reach out to my doctor or...?

This sub made me start counting my steps... now I need help picking a fitness watch!

TL;DR: what's the most basic fitness watch you know that does accurately track steps and HR? If possible in analog style.

Hi!

I have read so many posts about along the lines "all I do is walk and it helps so much" that I became curious about my own step count and

- started going on walks on days I feel like I didn't move enough
- activated the step count feature on my phone

It's been very interesting, the problem is, I don't carry my phone on me at all times.
I figured a fitness watch would solve the problem and let me know more precisely how active/inactive I am on any given day. But there are so many different models! I feel a bit lost.

I would like a watch that:

- tracks step count + heart rate (doing a C25K so it would be interesting to know); I don't care about the rest and don't need notifications. Having mixed feelings about GPS, so definitely not a must

- doesn't look fitnessy

- doesn't cost too much (but I'm probably gonna buy on backmarket or second hand)

+ bonus points if it is rather thin, I am not a big fan of wearing watches and jewellery in general

From what I gather, this leaves me the "Garmin Vivamove" Series or a few Withings?

Am I throwing away my money if I buy a second watch that's already a few years old? I long do they usually last for?

This sub opened a fitness watches pandora box for me haha.

Any tip will be appreciated!

Controlling food noise

As someone who has lost nearly 25 kilos in total, I have been trying to control my food noise for a long time and I have noticed that once I start eating or have easy access to food, when I am alone at home and in my own kitchen, this situation becomes irresistible. In order to suppress the food noise in my brain, I have to get away from home, even quite a distance. This is very interesting to me. For example, when I go to a market 300-400 meters away and return, the food noise does not stop, but if I walk farther, the food noise decreases. When this happens, I feel my brain calms down. Some days, I walk more and more just to reduce this noise, so much so that I literally relax as I get farther away from home.

Since I focus so much on eliminating food noise, I started to think about how I can do this at home. By paying attention to this, I started to notice that panic feeling in my brain when I cannot stop eating at home. In order to calm my brain and save it from falling into that food coma feeling, I started to make herbal tea and drink it quietly at home. This calms me down a little, and my brain too. I can distance myself from the thought of eating. If I can't get away from home, I can at least make a tea and take a break from eating long enough to go from the kitchen to the living room, and then I feel relaxed.

Food noise is especially affected by taste hunger, especially if you like to eat opposite tastes together, things get out of hand. One salty, one sweet or one sour, one sweet. That's why I tried to prepare meals with as plain tastes as possible during the weight loss process and I saw that this also helped me: boiled chicken, boiled vegetables, unprocessed fruit, boiled eggs, etc. Foods that have been processed, flavored with spices, etc. are very delicious, but unfortunately trigger food noise. The tastier they are, the more I want to consume them.

Do you use any methods to prevent food noise other than medication?

Do going down the bodyfat levels will increase my hunger?

Hi Loseit community. M27, 5'10, 81Kgs.

Started my cut at 23% bodyfat level. Currently at around 20%. My TDE is around 2700 calories, so I'm currently taking 2000 calories. Now, 2000 calories seems to be my lowest I can go, anything lower than that, and I would go crazy from hunger.

So, I'm targeting to get down to 12-13% bodyfat. Just curious, as I go down my bodyfat levels, will my hunger get out of control/ appetite hormones will start acting against me, or will it still be manageable?

I remember, I once got down to 15% bodyfat level, but couldn't maintain due to hunger. This time, I'm planning to go beyond that. Thoughts?

I cant understand myself

So I’ve been having a really difficult time with myself these past weeks. I started this weight loss journey 2 months ago and this is the 3th month. It was going really good the first month and i lost 5kgs and reach my goal for the first month and thats where everything started going downhill. I couldnt lose any weight the second month at all. I did stay away from junk food and dough but i lost my discipline. i think its because after losing 5kgs the first month and barely getting into a ‘healthy’ bmi made me more relaxed. Every week i thought i was doing good but the scale didnt budge. So this month i finally gained my discipline back and have lost 1kg so far in may. But now that the second week has started, i always crave for something. I always want to snack, i always want to eat something. I hate this so much i cant understand myself why do i keep on wanting to eat something?! I need this to stop. I feel so tired of this journey already. I want to look better and feel better in my skin but im still relaxed and i keep want to eat something :(

Calories confusion

I recently signed up to work with an online coach, who has prepared a meal plan with macros. I'm only on week 1 of my 3 month plan but I'm confused as to the macro breakdown and calories as it seems really high:

Rest day is calories: 1994, protein is 144g, carbs is 217g and fats is 58g Training days is 2134kcal, 143g, 267g and 51g

I'm 30, female, sedentary, 5ft 4 and weight 80kg, with goal of weight and fat loss. Is this a case of 'trust the process, trust the coach' or should ai be questioning this at this point? I make an effort to meet the protein goal, but I'm extremely full after meeting this so haven't been meeting my calories, carbs or fats because I'm eating at max already, if that makes sense?

I've hit a plateau

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for some advice.

Back in October last year, I started a strict low-calorie, high-protein diet to lose body fat and improve my physique. Here are my stats:

Height: 188 cm (6'2")

Starting weight: 106 kg (233.7 lbs)

Starting body fat: ~27%

Currently, I weigh 94.5 kg (208.3 lbs), and I believe my body fat percentage is lower now, although it's hard to measure accurately.

My Diet:

For the past several months, I’ve been eating:

Calories: ~1900 kcal/day

Protein: 180–190g

Carbs: 150g

Fats: ~40g

The diet definitely worked—I’ve lost 11.5 kg (25.3 lbs) so far, which I’m proud of. But I’ve hit a plateau. I’ve been stuck at 94.5 kg for weeks now with no noticeable changes in weight or physique, even though I’m still sticking to my 1900 kcal diet.

I tried reducing calories further, but I noticed it started affecting me mentally and physically—I felt drained and moody. My goal is to get down to 90 kg (198.4 lbs) to finish the cut before starting a lean bulk.

Training:

I follow a consistent Push/Pull/Legs split with progressive overload. However, I’ve been struggling to add 20–30 minutes of cardio after workouts due to low energy levels. I also average around 7,000–8,000 steps per day. I've tried adding a picture to show my physique but I can't, probably because of low karma (5). To give you an idea about my build: I'm muscular, and my bodyfat is concentrated around my lower belly.

What’s the best move from here? Should I push myself to add cardio, even if I feel low on energy? Or would it be smarter to take a short diet break to reset and recharge before finishing the cut?

Any insights or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Do you get 10k steps from a walk or just general busy-ness?

I have a 4 year old so I am generally quite active all day (more so now as I am consciously trying to hit my steps.) Monday- Thursday I can go for a 6-7k step walk on my lunch break. I generally get another 4-5k a day just from the mornings and after school parenting / household activities. Fri-Sunday I find it harder to go for such a long brisk walk for obvious reasons. I always get my 10k steps tho, even if it’s just being indoors, just from trying to essentially never sit down. Does this still “count” as steps?

I'm stuck on cravings

Hi! 32 year old, overweight and never stepped foot into a gym. For years I've been saying I'll do something about it and the last year in particular I've actually wanted to do something about it.

Today was the first time I did something. I went to the gym and did a small work out. I enlisted the help of a personal trainer, who is kind and really knowledgeable. Genuinely seems to care about my goals and the best way to achieve them.

What I really need help with is food. How do you stop the cravings and gain the will power to do something about that. I've started a million diets and failed them miserably, I really struggle to feel satisfied immediately after eating (almost anything) I want to simply eat and forgot about food until say Dinner or whatever. How do you do this?
