Stopped Counting Calories - Now I Keep Thinking About Food?

Hey!

Body:
After losing 177lbs (400→223), I quit calorie counting but now I'm stuck in my head about food:
- Constant "should I eat?" thoughts even when not hungry

  • Snacking because I "might get hungry later"

  • Stressing about portions despite still losing 2-3lbs/month

I work with a dietician and only weigh myself once a month. My dietician/therapist wants me to escape this calorie counting, diet mentality, and just focus on being “healthy.”

What's Working:
- Bigger breakfasts (oats + protein keeps me full) and getting a snack before I workout/run. - Plate method (simple balanced meals without numbers)
- Prepping weekend meals to avoid grazing

Question:
For those who stopped tracking:
1. How long until you stopped overthinking every meal?
2. Any tricks to break the "eat now just in case" habit?
3. How do you know you're eating enough without numbers?
