For reference, I’m 35F, 5’6”. I’m 10 months post partum, and during pregnancy I stopped tracking my macros and working out and gained 55lbs. Pre pregnancy I was very fit/active. I weight trained 4 days a week. My pre pregnancy weight was 156. The day I gave birth, I was up to 211. Lost 20lbs a week after giving birth (between baby, placenta, amniotic fluid, water retention, etc). So then at 191, I’ve been slowly pecking away at my weight. I try to workout when I can, but it’s harder with the baby and now working. I’m down to 164, and my goal is eventually 135-140.
I pay for the premium MFP because it allows me to use Quick Add on macros as well as customize my macro goals. I also cook all my meals and really love getting creative. I used to tediously add my own recipes and weigh out portions. It’s a lot of work, but I enjoyed doing this for years because it allows me to eat the foods I love and still lose weight.
Well… I saw a post where a girl started using Chat GPT as a weight loss tool. I was intrigued so I downloaded it. And OH MY GOSH. What a humongous help it has been. So for an example, last night I made smoked salmon chowder. I found a recipe on Pinterest. I screen shot the ingredients and typed into Chat GPT after uploading the screenshot “I want to make this for dinner. What are the approximate macros on a serving? I’m trying to keep the serving around 500 calories. How many ozs of this cooked soup would you get me 500 calories?” And BOOM! Out spits the answer in seconds 🤯
I then fill in the macros on MFP diary through the quick add section.
I tell all my gym friends about this sorcery. I seriously use it multiple times a day, and my meals are so unique and fun to experiment with. I also ask questions like “I’m trying to eat at least 30g of protein in this meal. How many ozs do I need to eat?” Or “I’m substituting whole fat greek yogurt for the non fat greek yogurt in this recipe. How does that impact the macros?”
Seriously highly recommend to fellow macro trackers. This is a serious game changer! It’s in the App Store called ChatGPT by Open AI. I pay for the $20 a month version, but you might be able to use the free version:)
