So I recently decided to start standing at work as a means to increase my NEAT (which seems like the more pragmatic way to burn calories). I can't out train a bad diet, but I do want to take every step I can to shift calories in/calories out more in my favor. So now, I'm standing instead of sitting in a chair, which helps a little, but I want to increase the rate at which I can burn calories.
Right now I'm trying to stand on one leg while raising the other off the ground. I figured that if my knee isn't locked, I'd be able to engage my quads, hamstrings, glutes and core. I figured this might burn a large amount of calories just due to the muscles being engaged.
I could also walk or march in place. Question is, what can I do to burn the most calories?
That said, I want to figure out how I can burn THE MOST calories while standing at my desk, answering phones and typing away emails? Thanks!
