I find that I’ve tied my eating habits more to time than anything else. I’ve dealt with some mental health issues over the years that made it easier to just pick a general time to always eat lunch and dinner and an afternoon snack regardless of hunger so it wasn’t another thing I had to think about.
I’m working hard to be more intentional about my eating and mindful about portion sizes, but I’m having a hard time getting around this mental block that says “It’s 5:30, it’s time to eat” even if I’m not hungry yet.
I definitely think that preconceived notions about when and how often I should eat are causing me to overeat and not listen to my body.
I’m working hard to lose weight as I’m getting close to 200 but am struggling with PCOS making it difficult to actually lose weight and I’m hopeful that getting past this mental barrier will make it easier for me to eat less.
How do I go about tying when I eat back to actual feelings of hunger rather than this self imposed schedule that causes me to sometimes overeat?
