Let me tell you about my last weekend: I was at a 5 star wellness hotel with my family. The occasion was my dad having a big birthday, for which we surprised him with the weekend away.
On Friday for dinner, I had oily pasta with lots of fresh burrata and roasted vegetables, and a chocolate crème brûlée for dessert. We drank wine and toasted him with champagne. Easily a 1500 calorie evening, probably much more. On Saturday, we had a divine breakfast buffet. Honestly, probably the best selection of foods I've ever had at a hotel. I ate until I was completely stuffed, and drank juice and lattes without thinking about the calories. Again, easily a 1000-1500 calorie meal. We spent the afternoon at the saunas, and occasionally went to the swimming pools next door. I had a chocolate and coconut milkshake in the afternoon, at least 500 cals.
In the evening, we had a three course meal, again with lots of wine. I've never had food like that, it was honestly SO good. Seared tuna steak with a miso glace, vanilla bean ice cream with a chestnut foam and yuzu confit. My mouth is beginning to water again just thinking about it! Then, the next day, another breakfast buffet, another milkshake, and finally a gigantic burger with fries in the evening.
So why am I telling you all this? Well first of all, it was amazing haha, but this was also equal to a 3-day binge morning til evening. I easily ate in three days what I usually aim for to eat in a whole week. We beat ourselves up about slipping up and having a "bad" meal sometimes, and I get it. I gave myself a couple of days before stepping on the scale again, and today I was 2.7 pounds lighter than I was Friday morning. So my point is: if you tend to stress yourself over slip ups, remember my weekend of five star heaven, and that it didn't do any longlasting damage in the end!
