I started a cut on January 1st. This isn't my first time doing this and I'd like to think I know what I'm doing. But the numbers have me a little confused. Let's start with my stats:
-
30 years old
-
6'5
-
255lbs starting
-
Around 20% BF on 1/1/19
I weigh every Sunday morning, before I've eaten anything. Week 1 I lost 7lbs. Okay I figure, that's way too much but I cut carbs a good amount (went from about 300g/day to 100g/day) so maybe I just lost a bunch of water weight. Week 2 I'm down 1.8lbs. This is what I was shooting for. Week 3: 1.6lbs, I'm good with this. So I step on the scale today for week 4 and I'm down 7.7lbs and now I'm confused. Here's an average day's macros:
-
1750 cals
-
170g protein
-
80g fat
-
100g carbs
Cardio is limited at two 20 minute sessions of moderate intensity a week. Strength is down obviously and I know I need to eat more. I was thinking of bumping up to 2,100 cals for next week but the question is, why are my losses so erratic? I was shooting for 2lbs/week but I'm down 18lbs in the first month. Bumping my cals up by a few hundred wouldn't account for losing an almost 8lb loss this week.
