Hi I'm back! I have begun cutting portion sizes to about half of what I usually eat. I only drink water and teas at home and I only drink coffee or soda as a part of meal replacement. I have lost six pounds so far and I am losing about one to two pounds a week, I had to cut out running and barre because I had a pretty bad knee injury. I am slowly planning on getting back out there but it always feels like my knee is about to pop out of place. My roommate is being pretty awesome because we are starting to have pushup contests every night. Very cool indeed, even if I suck.
I have a lot of group activities that I do with people. In the beginning it was a struggle because I would always tend to over eat and mess up. I have since worked out ways to manage my eating at all of my activities except one. I take my little sister out once a week for about five hours and we always go to fast food. I have tried eating before we go and it doesn't seem to work. I have tried drinking water so I am full, no dice. I have tried cutting everything in half (which she gets a kick out of, ever explain to a barista that you are on a diet so you need half that iced coffee poured down the drain?) We went out again last night and I thought I did pretty well. I ate before hand, indulged in a half coffee while she had a medium, ate 3 of her tater tots, and I came home .....and ate a slice of pizza with a spoonful of cheesecake nutella.I was so hungry.
For reference I have D and D group I eat something before I go and when I get there I will get a Dr. Pepper. It works! For my study group, I get a small iced coffee and will take an energy bar with me, no problem! I do my best when I am at home because I put everything on little saucer plates. At work I have everything pre-measured. At family events I only eat a 4th to 1/2 of my plate and I am careful with portions. I am losing weight but it's just something about being in the car with a 14 year old that makes sticking to this very difficult! We do a lot of unplanned events so I do think I am burning energy. Do I need to make her days a cheat day? Anyone is a similar situation? Advice would be greatly appreciated.
