So I am 28/f and have been obese since I was 17. Since late 2017 I have gone to the gym on and off, but after some medical issues I finally took control just after this new year. The first 2 weeks was simply eating better and doing a daily squat challenge, but only going once or twice a week to the gym. Then I was confident enough to just go. I have been to the gym everyday since Sunday 1/20, except on Fridays, because they don't fit into my schedule right now. I can now do 200 squats in one session and have kept up with exercising (mostly strength training) at home. I went from only being able to do 3 minutes on the elliptical without totally dying to doing 20. I went from 265lbs in December to 257lbs as of Thursday. Now sure, that may not seem like much, and I'm not measuring just by my weight, because I KNOW there are so many other factors. For instance I did a weigh in on Saturday and one on Thursday. The weight was almost a lb more, but my muscle mass had gone up while my body fat had gone down, so I'll take the win. I also have the enjoyment of my clothes fitting better, or my fold over tummy pouch not seeming to be as pronounced. I was able to wear shirts and pants that usually show the pouch, but they aren't doing that now (or rather, they aren't doing it to the point that I feel disgusting in them)! My fiancé says he can tell a difference in the booty, my coworkers say they can see a difference in my stomach. Definitely gives me motivation to keep going and I am so proud of myself, since I have terrible follow through, but I've been actually doing it! My fiancé has been put on a (mostly) strict low sodium diet, which has also helped motivate me to eat better. Been using mfp and weighing all of my foods. Yes, some days are better than others, but I am usually below my 2000cal daily amount (suggested cal amount by several nutrition/fitness people, and will decrease as I lose weight) I've been sharing my successes with all of the people I talk to daily, but I needed to scream it from the rooftops! I'm feeling better, fitting into clothes better, and mentally doing better. I can't wait to see where this goes for me.
