It's ok to waste food

Not purposely, of course, but we don't have to be garbage disposals either.

I recently made guacamole to go along with some tacos and after finishing them there was still quite of bit of guacamole left over. Two days later my husband didn't want to waste it so he said we should go buy some tortilla chips so we can finish and not let it go bad. Suddenly, I realized that we were going to add additional calories and force ourselves to go over our daily limit just so that we didn't waste the equivalent of $2. I realized that we ALWAYS did that; it's well meaning but there's no need to save a little money at the expense of your goal weight.

So the next time I have 3 bananas that's about to go bad, I'll toss them and lose the $0.50 rather than use them to make banana bread and take on the extra 1,000 calories (yes, I know I can freeze them and use for smoothies).
