100 pounds down in over 7 months

  • I find myself halfway to my ultimate goal weight now. This has been a turbulent time in my life mentally, but at least I can say I've stuck to this like I wanted to. I know that if I were the way I was last year, I would feel even worse.

  • Some of these pictures are from well before I started (when I had crazy long hair) and really it's super important that you take tons of pictures because it helps keep you grounded in reality. Even if you're looking in the mirror and your dysmorphia won't quit one day, you can look at how far you've come and even though you still have a long way to go, the progress you've made is still important.

  • Important lessons I've learned so far:

  • weight loss does not cure depression

  • weight loss does not cure anxiety

  • body dysmorphia sucks, so please take lots of pictures as you go

  • your mind can be your own worst enemy if you let it

  • it's okay to have bad days. you're still trying. you're not weak

  • motivation only gets you so far. the key to sticking with it is making it routine. make it so you're not even actively thinking about it all the time.

  • eat as if you were already at your goal weight

  • you can still have food you enjoy. I still have dessert. I'm just tracking calories

  • sometimes trying means getting your ass kicked by your own negative thoughts
