So in 2023 I weighed a whopping 165kg, I managed to get all the way down to 90kg in the Autumn of last year (feels weird saying last year when talking about 2024😂) but since then I've regained a little bit. I'm back up to 97kg and honestly the thought of seeing three digits on the scale again terrified me so it's time to get back on track and finish what I started. I think I slacked off a bit because when I was so big, the thought of even being 90kg again seemed so unrealistic but once I got there I realised that actually I still wasn't happy and still had lots of fat left to lose. This sort of demotivated me a bit, as in truth, even though 90kg is still 6-7kg above a healthy weight for my height, I expected to look a bit better than I did. My secondary goal which I considered ambitious at the time was 80kg, this would put me at a bmi of 23.6 which isn't exactly amazing, but considering my bmi was pushing 50 at one point, it'd be pretty bloody good!
I've never liked the idea of setting a period of time to achieve goals when it comes to fat loss, however I feel like this might give me the extra motivation I need to push me over the final hurdle in getting back to a healthy weight. I turn 26 at the start of June and I would like to be 80kg by then. This works out to be about 0.8 kg/wk on average which I actually think is fairly reasonable, especially considering I expect to lose probably 8-10kg of weight (not fat obviously) throughout the initial two months or so as I drop my calories back down, my body will be less bloated and retaining less water weight due to consuming fewer carbs now I'm back in a deficit. Then I'd expect it to average out closer to 3kg/month for the remaining three months.
Happy New Year everyone I wish you all the success in the world on your fat loss journies!
