Hi all! I’m a long time lurker of this subreddit, for more than a year I have lurked through this Reddit wishing and hoping that all of your success stories would be me but not actually doing anything about it, and it caught up to me.
November 30th, I(25 F) went to the doctor and weighed in at 356lbs. I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and diabetes type 2. This shook me to my core because I never wanted this for myself. But immediately after talking with my doctor, receiving some meds for my high blood pressure, I went home and got on this sub Reddit. I looked through all of your tips and tricks and dedicated myself to be at least 10 pounds down by my next check up. I got into the gym, started moving my body a whole lot more, and eating as healthy as possible.
This morning, I went back to the doctor to see how well my medications were working for my blood pressure, to meet with a dietician, and to see how to treat my diabetes and I weighed in at 340! My blood pressure was still slightly elevated but no where near where it was before! I know I still have a long way to go, but I really want to say thank you all. You guys have helped me so much.
I will be starting a glp-1 medication to treat my diabetes, since my doctor doesn’t think it’s wise to put me on insulin just yet because she believes that I could reverse my diabetes within 6 month- a year if I just keep trying, and for the first time in my life I think that I could do it as well. I know that I should’ve never let it get to this point, but there’s nothing I can do now but change my life
