I’m a 44 year old man. I’m sick and tired of being fat, so I’m going to do something about it. I’m at the age where I’m thinking about the future, and I want to be around and living a good, healthy life for a long time. My wife and I have two young children. I want to feel energetic and alive!
Until the Covid pandemic hit, I was about 155 lb. I was quite physically active, and I had been slim for a couple of years at that point, having been 210 lb at my heaviest.
About a year later, I realized I was autistic. I had a horrendous burnout. I needed some medication to cope. Got diagnosed about a year after that. Around that time, we experienced a hugely stressful situation with our housing — and with my newly discovered sweet tooth and gargantuan appetite from the meds, it was a perfect storm of emotional eating.
I gained weight and then got a job working from home. Lots of sitting. And then we decided to relocate; then we had our second child. I got up to 215 lb this year, and I’m down to 204 now. But I’m determined to get on our new treadmill every day from 1st Jan onwards, and do resistance rope training every other day. Also going to do meal prep from Monday 6th January (first day back at work) and track my food intake on MFP.
More of a process than goals kind of person, but if I were to put an arbitrary figure on the weight I’d want to be, I’d say 175 lb. But if I’m 190 and it’s largely muscle, I won’t be unhappy!
