Feeling really confused on how to not end up under-eating based on exercise

I'm smart but my brain just struggles to get this stuff.

Do I do the tdee calculator with moderate exercise (or heavy exercise) depending upon the plan for the week and basically that's my goal for what to eat as long as I exercise the stated amount? Do I re-enter things into the calculator once per week as I lose weight?

Is it best to have a strict plan for exercise and how much can I do each day to not harm myself (do I need to get a smart watch that tracks how many calories I burn)?

My worry is just that I'll get a lot of activity in and burn too many calories for what's listed to eat.
