Losing weight despite chronic pain

My chronic pain in my leg flared up at the start of this year and took a huge toll on my mobility. Over the last few months, I've been eating really well and doing gentle exercises and physiotherapy and I'm finally seeing evidence of weight loss which makes me feel really good! I didn't think I could do it being mostly sedentary.

What's worked for me is switching to a vegan diet (this has helped my leg pain and even my stomach pain too) but also taking the focus off weight loss. Although I wish I didn't have chronic pain, it finally made me understand what was important (my health) and helped switch my mindset. I was so focused on weight loss, especially as I was still recovering from an ED, but now I'm focused on movement and improving my health/quality of life. I think that's been the most important change for me in my journey.

So yay for me losing weight even with the chronic pain and yay for a healthier mindset!

I just wanted to add that I think aiming for a slow and steady progress is so much more sustainable than trying to just lose it all fast. Its a shame this has taken me so long to learn but I'm so happy to feel like I'm finally on the right path. Even though weight loss isn't the most important thing to me now, I still think its something worth celebrating 😊
