I got this because I have done it before. But how to avoid slipping up again

It is a story many here have. I (32m) Built up the will power, put on my big boy pants, and CICO my way to getting out of the obese range. I felt GREAT. No longer worried about having my picture taken, no longer worried about other people seeing me in a bathing suit, and overall confidence was high.

That was in 2019. I am now heavier than before and have finally built up that will power to get back to a healthy weight. I know I can do it but I don't want to keep this cycle going. How do you permanently change behavior? Or maybe better yet, how do you build up the willpower to keep the cycles staying at small fluctuations instead of drastic weight changes?
