I used to be quite fit in college and played soccer. I hiked as well quite often. However the past 3-4 years. I got a career, got married, bought a house, etc. naturally life got in the way and I’ve gained 30 pounds, feel horrible, and barely can run half a mile. I’m trying to run while also eating healthy to cut my weight.
This past week I started to try running again and I was DYING. I have chest pains (my heart has been checked thoroughly by a doctor). My breathing hurts, I can’t go that fast. Is this normal for someone out of shape and overweight?
I try to do at least a half a mile and I’m dead by the time I reach that. I want to get to the point I can run a mile a day and not be dying. How do you work up to that? Should I start with walking fast?
I never ran for exercise while out of shape, since any time I’ve ran before I was in shape. How do I get back to my old self? I’d like to be in somewhat decent shape in about a month and a half since I have a trip to Scotland and gonna do some hiking.
Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated
