M/25/5’10” - gained from 150lbs to 245lbs in the past couple years. Finally had a consultation with my physician today to get back on track! Tips for diet and lifestyle greatly appreciated.

Viral Imgur Comparison Picture

I posted this picture half as a joke, half as motivation a few days ago when cleaning through clothes in my closet during quarantine. I couldn’t believe how much I had changed (and that I was even able to button this shirt LOL). It blew up on Imgur with lots of people urging me to see my doctor because it was abnormal and also poking fun at me, saying I look overdue.

I made an appointment and cautiously saw my doctor today who I haven’t seen in some time. He was also quite shocked by my weight gain and especially the size of my belly, since I was about 50 pounds skinnier at my last checkup last year where he already was suggesting that I try to be more active. Luckily he was able to pretty confidently rule out any underlying conditions and pegs it on my diet and lifestyle. Which is why I’m coming to this subreddit for advice!

My current official measurements from today: 247 Pounds 5’10” 53.5” Around my Belly

I’d love any advice someone might be able to give who has had a rapid weight gain and how they were able to reverse it. Would it help if I figured out about how many calories I’m eating in a day or go over my diet? Or any other measurements? I work at a desk all day for a job with long, demanding hours. This all started in the first place because I was trying to bulk up at the gym at the end of college and once I graduated and started his job, the gymming stopped but my appetite and ‘bulking’ intake continued, even the protein shakes. I know I’ve messed up. Just want to start being accountable!
