Low protein diet, how to lose weight safely?

Im a 23 year old male. Im 228lbs and 5'6 tall. I'm morbidly obese and today i was diagnosed with fatty liver disease. My doctor put me on a low protein diet since she said that my liver is so damaged with fat that it cannot process ammonia (byproduct of protein breakdown) properly and that my ammonia levels were a bit high.

I had been losing weight since december, started at 241. this has honestly really scared me and i feel guilty that i have ruined my body this early. Low protein seems like it will be tough because most foods i eat have atleast some protein in them (beans/lentils...etc)

Has anyone ever dealt with a situation like this? is there any advice you can give me?
