For the first time I'm realizing how much my body likes a challenge.

I've tried on and off over the last 10 years to get into healthy habits, but it usually lasts a couple of weeks and I go back to my non-disciplined do whatever I want self. However lately I've taken an approach just slowly taking on more of a gym/running routine while doing intermittent fasting and CICO. And otherwise eating my usual stuff (not very healthy).

I used to come home from work exhausted and need a drink (and often would continue drinking casually throughout the evening) to feel good, and if I didn't I'd deal with pretty significant anxiety and general unrest. However I stopped drinking at home about 3 weeks ago and it's led to me slowly looking for a challenge instead, like I get from exercise.

I'm realizing that if I just spend 30-60 minutes doing something physically challenging and uncomfortable (exercise), I feel far better the rest of the day. And now getting to the point where I feel off if I don't. I get tired at the right time instead of staying up until 2am and waking up groggy and slow and doing it all over again. I've actually been wanting to do physically challenging things and relying on the good feeling from that instead of seeking it from food and alcohol. That and feeling/seeing muscle start to form in new areas, it's pretty cool :)
