Cardio tips for overweight male with bad knees

If this is the wrong subreddit for this, let me know where to post, please.

So I'm 5'6, 225 lbs. Currently trying to lose weight and increase my heart health. Figured the best way to do it (along with a diet) is cardio. Problem is, I've had knee injuries before from heavy impact; used to be a long-distance runner years ago. Surprisingly, doing heavy squats and deadlifts doesn't hurt at all; in fact, I sometimes feel relief.

Anyway, I figured biking would probably be best, but I've also heard that there are "right" and "wrong" ways to bike if you want to avoid knee injuries. Anyone care to offer advice on this? Maybe other ways to do cardio that are easy on the knees? Thank you!
