If you have a big gut it can be daunting as to where to start to lose it. The older you are the slower your metabolism becomes and so you need less food to function.
A good place to start is with the pen and paper. Don't do anything different from what you would normally do. Just record as much detail as you can on everything you eat for the next 7 - 14 days. Put everything on the record. Why? Because your target is to defeat your large gut. In order to do that you need to know what is feeding it.
I have been there myself. Unconsciously eating and adding calories into my body without thinking about how these extra calories affect my nutrition plan. At the moment you may have no nutrition plan but you could gather data on your target. It is a reconnaissance mission. It is crucial for our success that you be both free with your eating. Eat as you normally would but you record everything.
This will give you a good idea of where the weak spots may lie. The low lying fruit and easy targets that may give you small quick victories on your fat loss and weight management journey. Just keep a day by day journal of everything you eat and drink for the next 7 to 14 days.
Be sure to keep it somewhere safe when complete because you will be coming back to it. Have a look at it and really ask yourself about how necessary was eating what you ate and the specific amount that you did.
The following week make a conscious effort to eat as you normally would but before actually eating making your portion smaller. Your tummy will not be as full so drink water 20 to 30 minutes before eating to make your tummy more at ease. YOu could also use various natural easy to make drinks that can be used to help with fat loss and weight management as a substitute for water.
