Let me tell you about my mom.

She's a great source of inspiration. Obese and chain smoker, diabetic. She lost 70% of her lung capacity. She's 68. She doesn't have anything that wasn't preventable. These are some of the things she can't do:

She can't climb the curb on a street.

She can't buckle up the seatbelt.

She can't go up a flight of gentle stairs.

She can't tie her shoes.

She can't wash herself properly.

She can't sleep through the night.

She can't play with her grandkids.

She can't come on vacation with us anymore.

The list of can'ts goes on. You get the idea. So when I say "I can't exercise" or "I can't eat this salad" or "I can't be expected to log everything", I know it's a lie. I really can. She can't, she's really the person that has lost the ability to exercise her body and will never get it back. No judgement, no fault to be assigned to anybody, the cold hard fact is, her body will never be healthy again. And I don't want to be her in 30 years. Please, don't be her.
