To those of you counting calories: when do you “reset” your calories for the day, and do you take into account weekly calorie deficits/surplus?

At the moment, I have been resetting my allowances at 12am each day (because my tracker app Lose It does as-such) but haven’t been taking into account my weekly calorie intake. A day ago I had a bad day so I bought a pizza and some wine and I did actually feel a lot better come the morning, but I had gone 2000 calories over my daily goal (1500ish calories). To make up for that I ate 600 calories under my goal the following day, and had intended to do that today as well, but I am worried that because my goal is the minimum I can eat as a man, going below that is dangerous. I don’t know enough about how humans work to know if we process our calories over a period of days (making overeating one day followed by under eating the next okay) or if we should treat each day as an individual case.

How do you guys approach your calorie goals?

Thanks for your input.

PS: I’m sorry for not posting this in the Daily Q&A, I tried clicking the link to it in the “About” section, but it linked me to the most popular recent posts I think. Could be because I’m on mobile.
