I have been over weight my entire life, but never this obese obviously. All through my child hood the same pattern happened, I would be overweight, try to fix that by losing weight fast and exercising too much and then gaining it back plus more. At 18 years old I was probably at my mentally most unstable when I went from 330lbs to 260lbs through walking 15ish miles a day and being bulimic for a short period, and gained it all back plus about 100lbs more, which is where I am at today. Probably more mentally sound, but 430lbs at 21 years old.
For any more background, I am about 6’5” so I carry the weight decently and I am still pretty mobile so I still walk around my huge college campus, but I know that the only reason that my morbid obesity isn’t hindering my mobility too much is my relatively young age. I’m sure I’m putting an incredible about of stress on my knees and other joints and they can’t last long.
I don’t know why I have such poor control over food in my life. I have relatively good self control in other areas of my life- I have a 4.0 GPA, I have a fantastic internship lined up, I make my bed every morning, I’m an Eagle Scout- if you looked at my resume you would probably think “this is a motivated and self controlled young man”
But when it comes to food I’m like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I can make plans till the cows come home, but when hunger hits, every good intention I had just goes out the window.
If you have read this far, I thank you for taking the time to listen to me. I’ve been browsing this sub since I was probably about 14. I’ve seen every motivational post. I’ve seen people drop hundreds of pounds. But motivation is fleeting, and I just feel lost, and like I’m going to die at 40.
