I am still considered obese being 5'0'' / female. My main method was calorie counting to lose the initial 23lbs, going from god knows how many calories to 1200 a day. This started in January. I kept a food log and tried to incorporate less calorie dense foods.
1200 was very difficult and I made it down to at least 1400 most days. Once or twice a week I would end up in the 1700-1800 range but since starting, I never went over 2000.
So since I seemed to do well at 1400 calories, I decided to just set that as my limit. I've relaxed a little. My stomach has adjusted to the amount of food over the months, so I typically know if I eat too much. But my weight is staying put. Is the once or twice a week calorie jump causing this? (it usually happens on pizza night. I can't resist the call of a good pizza)
During this entire time I've been *mostly* sedentary, which I am working on. It's my office job; I've put in for a stand up desk but I don't know how that's going over.
Should I keep being religious about the calorie counting? I want to eventually be good enough to stop doing that. I want to just 'know' what I need.
What other changes would be beneficial besides moving more? I'm thinking about going back down to 1200 and being OK with fudging it a little, than sticking at 1400 and also being OK with fudging it a little.
One thing I am looking into is cutting added sugar down by a lot. I do not drink full calorie soda but I do (at most) have 1 12 oz can of diet once a day. I have Crystal Light w/ caffeine in the morning (or if I'm feeling it, coffee with artificial sweetener). When eating out I try to choose sensibly by checking nutrition facts before I order and then splitting the meal if needed. No more fries with that and so forth. I feel like I am doing well but it's just not showing anymore!
