Since I started aggressively tracking my calories a couple of weeks ago, I've realized something:
I didn't really overeat all that much, before. Sure I ate more than I am eating now, and most of what I ate was carb-heavy nonsense, but overall, my calories in from food weren't too bad.
My killer was beer.
Not all alcohol, in general, but beer specifically.
I tend to prefer hearty, maltier stouts and barleywines, higher ABV ales, and the like; some of these can run 200-330 calories a bottle. So one with dinner and maybe one later in the evening, most or every night of the week, and I was looking at up to an extra 600 calories a day, or more than 4200 in a week.
And I wondered how I put on so much weight in just a couple of years. I'm pretty sure I found the culprit.
