It really was that simple for me. Over the last 8 years I’ve put on 30 pounds, which I know isn’t too bad all things considered. The problem is I went from being a muscular “gym rat” to genuinely just being overweight, being unable to fit into my clothes, and feeling the need to “suck it in” around people.
I was eating a lot of fast food. Every lunch break for work, late at night for dinner before bed, and any time my stomach just felt empty. Not hungry, just empty...like...”I could eat. Don’t want to be hungry later.”
My Fitness Pal helped a lot. Just tracking what I’m putting into my body. If I’m nearing my fat limit, guess who won’t be reaching for crackers and peanut butter before bed?
So far in two weeks I’m down about 4 pounds. I’m not hungry. Sure some unhealthy sweets sound appealing, but I never feel like I’m starving. After a yam, chicken breast, carrots, triscuits, and hummus, I’m stuffed. But instead of having a 600 calorie burger with tons of fat and sodium in it, I had 400 calorie meal with clean protein, and vitamins.
I know it sounds simple. It’s just nice to step on the scale and see a change. I wish it was a faster process, but at least I’m able to actually track myself getting healthier. I’m putting a lot more thought into my meals now.
After all...you can’t improve what you can’t measure!
