Day 46 without sugar...

Just some collected posts I made about cutting out sugar. This is probably gonna be super boring to read, but if you're thinking about trying this, you may find it informative. If you're trying to lost weight, just cutting back on sugar can do wonders. Here are my experiences:

Day 1:

I've decided to cut out ALL processed sugar from my diet for a few weeks to see what effects it has on my body and mind. This... is really gonna suck.

Day 2:

Day two of my random zero processed sugar diet. I ate some broccoli for breakfast, which actually tastes really good if it's cooked or steamed. No butter or salt needed. The meal was satisfying enough, but I felt very tired still. I went for a walk and felt completely spent. I felt like I had ran a series of marathons followed by a grizzly bear attack. For lunch I had more broccoli, this time with some rice. Rice is nice. A few hours later I had a potato with a little butter. Nothing too fancy. And for supper, whilst everyone else had yummy pizza, I ate half of an apple (it was a very big apple, mind you). As soon as I ate the apple I had this surge of energy and euphoria. I sort of expected the energy boost, but I had no idea it would be so dramatic, and I certainly didn't expect such a profound feeling of happiness that followed. It's like a sugar rush, but the crash is more like leisurely strolling down a hill until gently coming to a pleasant stop. That's not to say it's all been good. I still feel extremely tired most of the time, and the craving to eat sugar is always there. It doesn't help that sugar is EVERYWHERE. I wanted to use a bit of Worcestershire sauce on my potato today, but one of the first ingredients is sugar. It's also in marinade, ketchup, barbecue sauce, salad dressings, and anything else that's delicious. Sigh. This is still www.buttsville.com, but I shall persevere!!

Day 4:

I think this is day four of Sugargate. I don't know why I just called it that. Yeah, I've eaten precisely zero processed sugar and the results are a mixed bag. I've been living on apples and potatoes almost exclusively. I do have some issues. For one, my energy is all over the place. Sometimes I feel overwhelmingly tired, and sometimes I feel like running even when I'm not being chased by owls. I'm thinking I should try to eat a more varied diet: different fruits and vegetables and more nuts and seeds. I would say the worst part of doing this diet (there's plenty of positives, too), is that I think about food most of the time. Not some of the time, not much of the time, most of the time I'm thinking about that next meal. I think the best diet you could ever be on is the one you don't know your on. If you can turn down a slice of pizza and eat a couple of bananas instead without thinking about it, you, sir or madam, are the grand champion of nutrition. For me, though, I want pizza, I want Oreos, I want Dr. Pepper, and I want them all right now. I'm like a sugar addict in withdraw. I had no idea just how addicted I am to sugar

Day 5:

Day five of Sugarama. I don't know what that means. My acne seems to be going away. I don't know if that has anything to do with the no processed sugar diet, but I guess it could. My skin has never been this not-oily. I've also noticed a big change in my energy. I don't know why, but today I've had no issues with feeling tired like the days before. I went for a walk today and felt fine afterward. I had a baked apple and two eggs for breakfast, and for supper I made sugar-free spaghetti sauce from scratch to go with wheat noodles. I like how the noodles only had one ingredient - wheat. The sauce was made from a tomato puree, sea salt, basil and garlic. The finished product was quite yummy. However, I still think about food all the time. I crave sugar day and night. I just want a great big bowl of sugar with chocolate on top... with a small salad.

Day 28

Day whatever of Sugar-Con 2018. That just made no sense. As some of you know, I've been doing a no processed sugar diet. I'm allowed to eat anything I want so long as it contains precisely zero processed sugar. I still crave sugary things. Actually, I had a dream that I was eating raw cookie dough with maple syrup and powdered sugar (and it was most grand!) I think about sugar A LOT. I can fight the urges just fine. I'm not worried about yielding to temptation. It's just, it can be a challenge to find food that I can eat. A few days ago I was gonna eat a plain ol' can of corn, but I couldn't because it contained added sugar. The same thing happened with a can of peas I had. They were sweet peas, but still. Why do vegetables need added sugar? They're supposed to be healthful and pure. I am the opposite of gruntled.

Day 46

Day 46 of Sugar-Man 5000! I don't know what that means, but it's now been well over a month without eating a single gram of processed sugar. No artificial sweeteners, no soda, no waffles, no candy, no cakes, no cookies, no ketchup, no peanut butter, no tea, no mayo -- nothing delicious pretty much. While it would be nice to crack open a root beer and eat a big bowl of sugar, I don't think about sweets that much anymore. This just feels normal now. I still eat fruit when I can, and that usually satisfies my cravings for sweetness. Most of my diet consists of eggs, plain oats, canned vegetables and water. It sounds lame, but I've come to like these simple meals. I still eat a ton of salt with everything, which is no bueno, but I feel healthy... I think. I've lost a lot of weight, even though it's only been a few weeks. I don't know how much, but I know I now need a belt to wear certain pairs of my pants. I can't believe it's already been this long. I feel like I started doing this two days ago.

And there it is. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I would encourage everyone to at least try this change in diet. It's been quite a journey. Anyways, thanks for reading <3
