So, just three weeks in a weight loss and fitness program, and quite happy with the results. After four weeks, I decide to visit my parents, and boy oh boy, how crap are my old eating habits! Every hour they have a coffee break with cookies and cake, all day watching tv eating pretty much everything: chocolate, ice cream, yogurt, more cookies, pringles...you name it. By the end of the night (8pm) my dad was eating a whole sweet potato, just... well, just because that was the only thing left to eat.
Food is pretty much everything for my family, specially sweets, so to say no to the cookies and cake is a form of rebellion and to be honesty, it just make me sad to realize that, in order to change my body and health I have to stay away as much as possible from them.
Today I tried to tallk to my mom, that by cutting sugar I'm losing a lot of weight and feeling better and her response is completely oblivious ("but we eat pretty clean! This treats are only on weekends" - note: just by looking at them you can tell they are not weekend treats)
Anyways, what to do? To visit them and say no to everything all the time? To stay away as much as possible? I'm feeling really shitty right now, because I eat cookies and cake I didn't want to make them happy and not make a fuss and ruin our day together.
