When a best friend is upset you comfort them. When they feel insecure you try to make them feel better. Yet, somehow, when we feel bad about ourselves we tend to make ourselves feel even worse. There used to be days I would stand in front of the mirror and literally rip myself to shreds. Not only would I do that in the morning, I would then continue to let that negative energy follow me the rest of the day.
BE AN ENCOURAGER
If your best friend right now said they were trying to lose weight what would you say? Probably something encouraging. You may even go as far as getting them a cute water bottle or something. How come when you decide to lose weight yourself your first reaction is to wonder if it is even worth it? You put yourself down before you even try. You give up before you start.
No one said weight loss was easy and sometimes it takes a lot to get out of bed and head over to the gym but it has to be done. In a previous post I had talked about weight loss not being an option, treating it as you would your job and going to the gym even when you really did not want to. Dragging yourself to the gym really is not fun, I get it. Maybe changing your perspective of it would help.
TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF LIKE YOU WOULD OTHERS
If you have a child or parent you take care of and they needed something really badly you would stop what you are doing and get it right? If your best friend was in trouble and needed help or support you would go right? Well treat yourself with that same priority. You should do good things for your body because you care about yourself. You should go to the gym because your legs carry you everywhere, your heart pumps everyday, your skin protects you and you have to do good by your body and take care of it.
When you take care of someone who is sick you do not want to give them cookies and soda to heal right? You give them healthy things and plenty of water. Well, if you are trying to lose weight, while you may not be sick, you still want to treat your body with respect and give it what it needs to heal.
HEAL YOUR BODY
Changing your mindset about how you approach weight loss is very significant in how you will see results. You won't see results if you hate on yourself, doubt yourself constantly, rip yourself to shreds and spend most of the day grumpy. Stress is not a good thing to put yourself under because it can screw up your weight loss journey.
Love yourself you would a best friend and see what magic occurs!
