Suggestions to improve loose skin as a result of significant weight loss

I am a 25-year-old male, 6' 5" tall and 270 lbs. I was about 315 lbs at the beginning of January when I started to get healthier and exercise. I am about to ramp up my efforts and I know I will be in the 250's before in no time. My goal weight is about 225 - 235 lbs. My goal body type is athletic / semi-muscular.

My highest weight was about 350 lbs many years ago. As you can imagine, this did a number on my skin in terms of stretching.

Since I have been losing weight, I have noticed some loose skin around my stomach, under my arms, and on my inner thighs. Since I still have a significant amount to lose, I am interested in some suggestions regarding ways to improve the loose skin issue. Even if only minor improvements (I realize surgery is the only way to completely get rid of it).

I have heard something about special creams. Which creams exactly do people use for this and are they at all beneficial? What about oils? I have also heard about people taking collagen. As of now, I am mainly doing cardio and outdoor exercises but not really any weights or resistance training. Someone suggested that incorporating these exercises would likely help a lot. Is that true? And finally, does the rate at which you lose weight really heavily impact the amount of loose skin you have? Should one go slow to reduce loose skin?

Thanks for reading.
