A trick that I’m adopting to help curb my simple card intake without cutting sweets out completely.

So, I find that my biggest barrier to fitness is sweets. I do great when I cut them out completely, but I love cake and ice cream and doughnuts and candy too much to never eat them again in my life.

But what am I to do? I find that I have pretty bad self control when I try to ease back into a normal diet after a long period of denying myself treats.

I think I’ve found a lifestyle based solution that works long term: never make or buy sweet treats for yourself. Only eat a sugary thing that has been given to you by somebody else (without you asking, of course!) This may not work for everyone, like if you work in an office with someone who constantly brings treats for everybody, but I find that it creates a healthy balance for me. Once or twice a week, I am offered a treat, and I gratefully accept it because it’s my only opportunity to have one! (And also, I practice portion control because I’m not by myself) It doesn’t cut sweet things out completely, but it also doesn’t allow me to gorge myself. Bonus: I never have that stuff lying around my house either.

What do you guys think?
