Hi guys! F29, lost 15 lbs over the past 3 months (still got 25 more to go) with vegetarian low-carb, IF and cycling. Lately though I’ve been finding it really hard to keep up and have been falling off the wagon frequently.
I though I was just self-sabotaging until I realized just how lonely I felt being on a diet.
I have a rather active social life, and we all know social gatherings revolve around food and alcohol. In the beginning with the initial excitement of making a big life decision like losing weight I’d make my own snacks to share with friends at a party and people would love them; and I’d be happy to cut down on the booze.
But overtime that excitement just faded away, and it got exhausting to be the one to cook healthy stuff for everyone everytime, and it got boring to be the only one sober at the end of a hard week. Going out and watching everybody share that delicious appetizer while you just sit there sipping lemon sparkling water because no bars on earth carry broccoli platters as appetizers just got a bit depressing.
So I’ve been making a lot of exceptions and a lot of “just this once” that are starting to become a habit and make my goal harder to reach. I feel like the only solution is either stay home or find myself a healthier group of friends, but I’m super scared of being alone in all this.
How do you guys deal with being the only one of your friends and family on a diet?
