I really like Indian food, and the best Indian restaurant near me has a lunch buffet. I try to avoid going there because I always end up overeating and not watching my portions. Also, when I eat there, I don't get an accurate count of my calories, so I try to minimize the damage by skipping breakfast that day but I still end up eating way too much and getting uncomfortably full.
This week, I'd been craving Indian food, so I finally decided to go today. But instead of skipping breakfast, I had a small breakfast and drank a lot of water. Then at the lunchtime buffet, I stuck to only my favorite foods and got single or half servings. This time, because I wasn't ravenous from skipping breakfast, I was able to notice halfway through my meal that I was already full. There was an annoying voice in my head that told me to keep eating so that I wouldn't waste food. I ignored that voice and just paid my bill and left.
This just made me feel so happy and in control of my eating habits. Just because there's a buffet doesn't mean I will overeat. Also, if anyone has tips for accurately estimating the calories in indian food, please share!
TL;DR - I watched my portions at a lunch buffet because I didn't skip breakfast.
