How do you personally fight off addiction to sweets?

Ive been in the habit my entire life to eat sweets whenever i want, in whatever capacity i want. It can be a chocolate bar a day or a package of 10 sugar cookies all in one sitting. I feel like i need to have something sweet everyday, my body seems depedent on it. How do you fight it?

One way that was working for me is having a fruit available at home for my "sweet" for the day. Id put off a cookie or brownie because i knew i could have my sweet at home. What works for you?
