Losing weight as fast as realistically possible?

31m 5'9 195 pounds, inactive lifestyle. I gained weight from bad food choices and excess calories. I am looking for a new job and my weight/fitness is definitely going to be an issue- is have lower back pain so the less weight the better. I also want to build up strength/fitness.

I have heard the dr now diet (1200 calorie, high protein/low carb) can yield good weight loss results. If any of you have experience with the dr now diet, what recipes would recommend?

If the dr now diet is too restrictive, what else would you recommend? In terms of muscle the left side of my body has significantly less muscle than the right side of my body, and don't have a ton of muscle mass in general.

I am aware of the issues with speed running long term fitness goals. I want to know what i can do to achieve realistic results.
