I’m 41, 5’4”, and over the past couple of years I’ve steadily gained weight. I’ve gone from 150 lbs to 190 lbs, and this is the heaviest I’ve ever been. I know why it’s happening. I’m not as active as I used to be, and although I cook healthy meals from whole foods, my almost nightly sugar habit has become a real issue.
On top of that, I have ADHD and depression, which makes motivation so hard. I get impatient, and when I don’t see instant results I tend to give up. The thought of hitting 200 lbs terrifies me, but it also feels like a very real possibility if I can’t make a change.
I don’t want to feel hopeless when I look in the mirror. I want to break this cycle. Wish me luck and if you have tips for staying motivated when your dopamine seeking brain constantly fights you, I’d love to hear them.
