How to deal with hunger and concentration

So I have been trying to lose weight for a while (I need to lose like half my body weight to be back in healthy zone). Obviously it's hard for all the usual reasons (healthy food is expensive, psychological aspect of restrain, hard to find time and motivation for exercise, bla bla bla). Anyway, I kind of know how to deal with all that, even though it's hard to actually do it.

The one thing I never hear about and I keep bumping into is how hunger affects concentration and ability to work. To have a calorie deficit, you need to let yourself be hungry in a way: that's the point, to get your body to burn fuel stocked as fat instead of eating. I get that. I can endure being hungry for a while. However, I have two jobs and work about 60h/week in teaching and research, both very "intellectual" jobs that require a lot of concentration. When I get hungry, I start having a really hard time concentrating. I am also prone to migraines, so I can't really take the risk of being too hungry and starting a migraine, making me unable to work for at least 12 hours.

It's honestly the main obstacle for me in terms of regulating what I eat. I end up having to eat something just so I can focus and it makes it really hard to keep a calorie deficit.

Any advice? at lwast anyone who can relate?
