What a weekend!!

I don't really have anyone to tell (at least no one that will care), so I decided to share it here. I've been battling to lose weight and (more importantly, to me) get stronger...I've got fibromyalgia and some other stuff, so high fatigue & pain has led to an easy trip down the 'out of shape highway,' but I'm trying to change course.

Saturday I asked my hubby if he & the kiddo wanted to go to a nearby nature center and walk "the loop" around the lake. It's a 3 mile, easy trail, meant more for looking at nature than challenging walks, just what I need. So we went & kiddo saw the name of a different path that excited him and went that way instead, then switched to the loop when they crossed paths. Added an extra mile to our walk, it was pleasant but also tough. Spent the rest of the day relaxing and gaming.

Sunday morning I woke up & felt great! Thinking "let's do it again" and suggested another trail with a different view. Hubby suggested we stick closet to home & we ended up on a nearby ATV trail instead. Walked 2 miles in a straight line with (almost) nothing to look at the whole way, then turned around and did 2 miles home. It really wasn't as fun as Saturday and the mosquitoes were wicked.

But my friends, I saw ONE thing on that trail and it had me on the phone once we got home. Couldn't find anyone to help, so I packed myself up in the car with a bedsheet, gloves & drove back to the nearest crossroad...

I walked another half mile back on that trail and collected THE SICK/INJURED SWAN we had seen (using said bedsheet to wrap him up safely), then carried his 20-25lb ass in my arms back that half mile to my car - OMG my arms burned, he felt so heavy by the end of that walk (then drove him 60 miles to the animal hospital, where they are going to try to nurse him back to health. See my post in Wildlife Rehab for a couple of photos, he's gorgeous.)

By the end of the day, I walked almost 7 miles (says my watch). Today was supposed to be weights day, but we are taking an unscheduled day of rest instead. I know I overdid it yesterday, but I'm also so excited that I did what I didn't think was even possible & I helped a critter in need at the same time.

I'm going to go take a victory nap...
