(28F, 5'7, SW: 207, CW: 180, GW: 135) I've been part of a research study that has people wear continuous blood glucose monitors for about a month and I get to see my own data as it comes in which has been neat. Unrelated to the study, I'm normally eating about 1500 calories a day with >100g protein and >25g fiber to lose weight, but I keep having hypoglycemic episodes at night (the worst one was a few hours long) according to the monitor. Afterwards I wake up exhausted or with a headache. I've tried a couple things to try to prevent these episodes but they keep happening:
- Intermittent fasting (20 hours fast, 4 hours eating) with the same diet makes it worse, started having episodes while I was awake too.
- Having protein at 9am and 9pm to try to stabilize my blood sugar overnight only stabilizes things for a few hours.
- Heavy exercise or light exercise during the morning, or light exercise at night right before bed have virtually no impact.
I can barely find any information about blood glucose for non-diabetic average people restricting calorie intake, with almost all the info online being about diabetics instead. Has anyone ever tried losing weight while wearing one of these things? Is this just an unfortunate but normal part of calorie restriction, or a unique medical issue? I'm going to mention this to my GP but was hoping someone might have some info for context.
