Hi all, I recently started a journey to lose 4 kg over a span of 8 weeks. I have in the past lost ~ 14 kg, but over the course of a decade I gained all that back, so I'm trying to lose some weight again. This is not really relevant except to say that I have done this before, I understand calorie deficits and proper portioning etc.
My strategy is thus: 1500 calories a day, and exercise for 40 min - 1 hour, 5 times a week. 10 - 15 minutes of that is warming up and cooling down but the rest is intense exercise. The exercise is some mix of strength, endurance cardio and HIIT. I measure everything, the cooking oils I use, the beverages I drink, any panne is measured, yadda yadda... I am extremely diligent about my intake as I know it's the most important thing.
I am 175 cm, and I started at 76 kg. I want to get down to 72 kg. Before this I exercised 3 times a week, for about 30 - 40 min at a time, so my overall exercise intensity and duration is up.
I'm finishing up week 4, currently. Week 1 went great, I went from 76 to 75 kg. But subsequently, over the last 3 weeks I haven't lost a red cent...! My weight has fluctuated between 75 and 74 kg, currently at 74.6 kg as of this morning. This is super demoralizing and I have thought of giving up because I can't be bothered being hungry every day just to see no results for so long.
I have decided I am not going to weigh myself for the next week to give myself a break from starting each day demoralized so I can just focus on going through the motions even if I'm not seeing results. But still, why is this happening? Is this normal? This definitely wasn't the case the first time I lost weight, but I'm older now, so maybe things are just different...
