SV and NSV: I’m actually seeing a difference

5’6 HW: 183lb CW: 174.6lb GW: 150lb

I was “skinny” my whole life thanks to I suppose a very picky diet and fast metabolism. However that metabolism certainly slowed down as I go into my 20s. The past few years have seen me from 130 in 2019 to 180 in 2024. I have decided recently that with a major family history of heart disease and my cholesterol officially being considered high, I want to really make a change.

My 2023 resolution was to try new foods. I had* the palate of an 8 year old and ate essentially no fruits or vegetables. I did try about 12-15 new foods last year. Things like salmon, clementines, grapes, edamame. I kept that resolution going and am continuing to try new foods. In the last few weeks I’ve tried asparagus, Brussels sprouts, mushrooms and Cod.

However 2024 goal is make sustainable lifestyle changes to improve mental and physical health which I hope to include losing 25-30 lbs. My partner and I are taking this journey on together so it certainly helps accountability. We are simply buying healthier alternatives and placing a lot of weight in lean meat and vegetables. I’ve also personally taken on fiber. My diet had little to no fiber in it. I count fiber equally with protein. I don’t concern myself too much with fats and carbs.

Well. We started the journey mid January and got much more serious about it in the last three weeks. In those 3 weeks, I have gone from fluctuations up to 181 to this morning being 174. I haven’t seen the scale that low in a while. I’ve told myself I can get some new tennis shoes when I get under 170 :) I have good shoes now don’t worry but these would be a treat. :)

Overall, I’ve developed good habits like washing my face and brushing my teeth daily. Im eating healthier alternatives. I’m moving my body some way every day. My partner is losing weight quicker than me but it’s nice to see my number going down too :)
