I hit my one of my major goals! I weigh less now than I did at 14 years old!
The last time I remember being at a healthy weight was 10 years old, and I think a lot of it was due to my blood sugar being wildly out of control (I'm type 1 diabetic, diagnosed age 8). More insulin = weight gain, so when I finally started to care more about my blood sugar I gained weight. Moving to a new city halfway through middle school didn't help either, and I snacked a lot to cope.
When I was 14 and in the 180s I finally decided I had enough and told my mom I wanted to lose weight, and unfortunately the way we decided to go about it was through a crappy MLM diet with expensive cardboard food. I did lose some weight and got down to about 179.5, but as soon as I stopped I gained it all back, and then some.
By the time I graduated high school I was probably over 220 (I don't know my exact weight because I stopped weighing myself). When I went to college I lost about 10 lbs from walking so much, but since then I've constantly bounced around between 195-210.
I got a new endocrinologist last year, and she told me my insulin resistance was really bad and suggested I go on Ozempic. It has been a lifesaver! My insulin resistance is nowhere near as bad as it was, and I'm finally eating normal portion sizes? I really don't have a desire to snack anymore, either, and I'm only buying groceries maybe once a week vs every other day like I used to.
I've been using MyFitnessPal since my initial weight loss attempt to track my weight, and today when I weighed myself I noticed I weigh less than I did when I was 14!
