"Smart scale" sabotaging my efforts?

I'm an active 37 year old with a newborn and a farm business. My "smart scale" says my BMR is 1500 calories/day- 300 less than it should be. When calorie counting, 300 calories makes a huge deal in a deficit. It says my muscle mass is lower than it should be so maybe that's where it's getting the idea that I have a lower than normal BMR? I was happily eating 1500-1800 calories a day for weight loss purposes and now feel like I need to cut deeper since my BMR is so low. Do you follow the smart scale's recommendations or are they full of crap?
