Keep starting and stopping, feeling lost. How do you start and continue when it’s a long road?

I’ve been on my own lose it journey for about five years now and have been a lurker here for about two. Stories posted in this sub are so awesome and motivating and truly jaw-dropping because for me, every time I start I lose my discipline and drive by about week 2.

I was getting further before (and even lost almost 10 lbs once!) but now it’s just a week by week yo-yo really—where I’m eating healthy & tracking, then get impatient then eat a wholllleeeeee bunch for a couple weeks and start again—and it’s led to me being my heaviest yet.

Fellow losers, what’s your advice for staying the course? Especially when you know it’s gonna be a long road ahead— months maybe years? How do you take those first steps and keep going when the scale isn’t going down like you want?

I have been trying and trying and messing up but my weight is starting to have some really adverse health effects and I need to change.
