Caloric Deficit confusion?

Sooo, I have been trying to lose weight for a while and I am in a rut. I work out very intensely 5 days a week doing a workout class that involves cardio and weight lifting. I have been doing this for 3 weeks now and literally have not lost a single pound. So I have heard a-lot about calorie deficit working great but I am not sure I quite understand it? So say I burn 450 calories during my workout, I have to eat LESS than 450 calories during the day? If I am correct, does that just seem a little crazy haha? I feel like 450 calories is just on the border of.. starving LOL! Thank you in advance
