A Wake up Call

After a long while of doing the wishy-washy "eh, I need to lose some weight" talk, I finally had a (somewhat embarrassing) wake up call.

I went to Six Flags for the first time this season, and had to do the 'walk of shame' off of one of my favorite roller coasters. It had always been a little snug, but I'd never had a problem getting on before. This time, we couldn't get the restraints down enough for the buckle to latch. I knew I had put on some weight in the last year especially. My clothes were getting tight, some of my smaller cut jeans weren't quite fitting. I saw a picture my mom had taken of me and the first thing I thought was "man...I have some awful cankles going on...when did that happen?"

Not being able to fit on my favorite ride was the shove I needed to go from "I should do something about this" to "I'm going to do something about this today".

That was on Wednesday, and I started getting in gear on Thursday, getting a workout plan together, and talking to my girlfriend about what I need to do. She promised to stop impulse buying junk food (I have awful self-control and am an awful boredom snacker, so until I start getting into some better habits, I don't want it around), and we went grocery shopping together so I could pick out a few things I wanted around the house to snack on.

This isn't my first time doing this, I had dropped a lot of weight a few years ago, but I've put it all back on (and then some). I had really good luck sticking to a (mostly) paleo diet, tracking calories, and doing strength training exercises. I've already mostly cut out soda from my diet, so that's one little step already down.

Here's where I'm starting out at:

31/F 5'9" , starting weight 290 lbs

Body Fat (according to Navy Tape Measure method): 56.67%

Ultimate Goal Weight: 170lbs, 25% body fat

For now: Lose enough to get back on Batman before Fright Fest is over :)
