It's been quite a while since I posted here, but I'm still sticking to the CICO plan! I wanted to make an update post now that the recent craziness in my life has finally started to settle down. In the past month and a half, I have graduated from college, moved across the country, and started a new job in a city where I know virtually no one. You can imagine those events come with a whole slew of emotions, from extreme happiness to extreme sadness, nervousness, and also confidence I'm doing the right thing. As anyone here could tell you, emotions and diets are not an easy combo, but I've learned to just take it one or a few days at a time.
Some of the hardest parts have been the desire to hang out with everyone before I leave, which often involves food, the desire to eat at all of the places in my hometown where I lived nearly my entire life before leaving, the desire to meet new people which also involves food, and the desire to eat at all of the new places since there's sooo many good restaurants here. You can imagine I wasn't losing a ton of weight during this time, but I was able to sustain my weight by deciding that if I'm gonna eat poorly today, tomorrow has to be better, and sticking to that plan. Even with all of the eating out, I still managed to lose a couple pounds over that 1.5 month period, and while that was well below the pace I had been at, I'm quite happy with it.
And now I'm fortunate enough to have a gym in my apartment building and I've been utilizing it a lot compared to when I just had a membership at a gym. I'm actually starting to enjoy going, which isn't something I ever expected to happen! Additionally, I didn't bring my car with me which worried me a little because, while everything is within walking distance, when I was here as an intern I didn't like to walk anywhere (pre-dieting), but I've actually really enjoyed walking all over the city now. Anyway, I just wanted to put it out there for anyone else who's moving, finishing up school, or any other life events, that you can still have fun and celebrate all of the good, or deal with the low parts of life, and continue to focus at least partly on staying healthy.
I hope you all are doing great, and feel free to ping me if you're going through something or just wanna chat :)
